Israel Is Wary of Smuggling US Weapons In The Ukraine and Afghanistan Wars

The Palestinian news agency Sama on Friday, June 16, 2023, reported that weapons belonging to the United States left in Afghanistan were allegedly smuggled to a number of factions in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

The Sama report was based on a source from a senior official in the Israeli military, who confirmed this matter.

"A number of small arms seized in Afghanistan have been found in the hands of factions in the Gaza Strip, Palestine ," said the source.

At the same time, the Israeli military has voiced their concern over the dangers of sending advanced weapons belonging to the United States and from Western countries, to Ukraine. Because Iran's enemies are in the region, including Iran.

The Sama news agency said in its report that Washington had confirmed it would take steps to prevent the smuggling of US weapons to the Middle East.

The Israeli military said Israeli paramilitary forces taking part in the Ukraine war were tasked with monitoring weapons shipped to Ukraine, including the Javelin anti-missile system.

Sources briefed on the Sama news agency claimed the groups that fought in the Ukraine war were keen to transfer the weapons they seized during the war to Iran.

Because relations between Russia and Iran have strengthened. Meanwhile, pro-Ukrainian groups want to smuggle these weapons for money.

The Israeli military described this situation as very dangerous because Iran could learn how to produce similar weapons, wherein these weapons could allegedly be obtained by Palestinian factions and Hezbollah.

Ukraine is a former Soviet Union country, which wants to become a member state of NATO and the European Union. According to Moscow, Ukraine's actions could threaten Russia's security and influence.
